Family-Run Blackbird Antiques to Open in Nazareth, Offering Unique Vintage and Antique Items

by Cecily

A new hub for antique and vintage enthusiasts is set to open in Nazareth, Northampton County, this spring. Blackbird Antiques, a family-owned store, will offer a wide variety of unique vintage and antique items, including artwork, furniture, clothing, and household goods. The store is expected to open its doors in late April or early May at 19 Belvidere St., according to co-owner Abby Bachstein.

The store is a family affair, with Abby’s father, Aaron Bachstein, her mother, Heather Bachstein, and her brother, Ethan Bachstein, all contributing to its operations. The Bachsteins have long dreamed of opening an antique shop, and the new space in Nazareth presented the perfect opportunity to turn that dream into a reality.

“For years, it’s been a dream of ours to open an antique store, and we’re excited to finally be doing it,” said Abby Bachstein. “We live in Nazareth, and when we saw the space, we thought, ‘What an amazing chance to finally do what we’ve wanted for so long.’ It’s like a dream come true.”

The family’s passion for antiquing spans generations, with Abby and her father regularly attending auctions and antique shops since her childhood. This love for collecting unique treasures was passed down from Abby’s grandfather to her father and, eventually, to her. The Bachsteins’ personal collection of antiques has been built over decades through estate sales, auctions, and other antique stores.

Blackbird Antiques will feature an eclectic mix of antiques, including chairs, tables, paintings, sculptures, tableware, pottery, and vintage clothing. Items such as lamps, pressed glass, duck decoys, and record players will also be available. Additionally, the store will offer a selection of vintage jewelry, hats, and other fashion accessories.

The store will also provide consignment opportunities a few months after its opening. “We’ll be carrying a bit of everything,” said Abby, “from early primitive and mid-century modern items to military collectibles.”

The Bachsteins travel extensively to find their inventory, often attending local auctions and online auctions. “There are so many great auctions in this area, and we also travel within a two-hour radius to find unique pieces,” she added.

The name “Blackbird Antiques” is inspired by the Bachstein family’s admiration for Edgar Allan Poe, particularly his famous work, The Raven. The shop will occupy a space that was previously a thrift store. The family plans to update the location with fresh wall paint and other cosmetic improvements.

Abby Bachstein expressed excitement about joining Nazareth’s vibrant business community, which includes local shops like The Hive, a market showcasing handcrafted items from over 130 vendors in the Lehigh Valley. The Bachsteins have received a warm welcome from the town’s residents and business owners alike.

“Nazareth is such a beautiful town, and we’ve been so grateful for the support we’ve received,” said Abby. “It’s been an incredibly sweet, warm welcome, and we’re thrilled to be part of this wonderful community.”

Blackbird Antiques promises to be a must-visit destination for antique lovers in the area. With its diverse inventory and family-driven mission, the store is set to become a staple of Nazareth’s local business scene.
