Tahmina, a Londoner with a specialization in Islamic and Indian art, currently serves as the head of department at Chiswick Auctions. In her debut on the popular show Antiques Road Trip, she is introduced as “an authority and enthusiast on Indian and Islamic art.”
After completing her studies at the prestigious School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London, Tahmina embarked on a career with renowned auction house Sotheby’s, working in the Islamic & Indian and South Asian departments. Her expertise eventually led her to run the South Asian auctions at Bonhams, where she earned acclaim for securing world record results for Indian, Pakistani, and Sri Lankan artists, as reported by Chiswick Auctions.
Interestingly, Tahmina’s journey into the antiques world began in finance. Reflecting on her career shift, she shared during Monday’s episode of Antiques Road Trip: “I used to work in finance and I realized that I loved pictures more than numbers.”
