Aaron Nejad, a prominent dealer in antique rugs, carpets, and textiles, is set to sell 90 exceptional pieces from his personal collection at Dreweatts Auctions in Donnington, Berkshire, UK, on 8 May 2025. The auction, which runs from 7-8 May, will be held under the title “Curated Collections: Phillip Lucas, Spitalfields House & The Aaron Nejad Gallery.”
The auction, featuring a carefully selected range of antique rugs and textiles, will include lots numbered 422 to 512, with Nejad’s collection going under the hammer on the second day, starting at 10:30 BST on 8 May. Potential buyers can view the pieces between 2-8 May at Dreweatts.
Speaking to Jozan Magazine, Aaron Nejad shared his thoughts on the upcoming sale: “On the 8th May 2025, I will be participating in a curated auction featuring an eclectic selection of pieces from my inventory. I have been trading in antique rugs, carpets, and textiles for over 30 years. This sale offers me the opportunity to take a brief sabbatical to allow me time and space to complete a book on Ukrainian Kilims.”
Among the highlighted items in the sale are:
Lot 504: A Heriz carpet from North West Persia, dating to the late 19th century. Measuring approximately 325 x 240 cm, it is expected to fetch between £3,000 and £5,000.
Lot 478: A Kazak rug from the Caucasus, early 20th century, estimated between £600 and £800, measuring approximately 249 x 134 cm.
Lot 481: A Fachralo Kazak design prayer rug from the 20th century, estimated at £1,500 to £2,500.
Lot 454: An Uratube Suzani from Uzbekistan, circa 1850, approximately 222 x 190 cm, with an estimate of £6,000 to £8,000.
Lot 438: A “Mohajaran” Sarouk carpet from West Persia, circa 1920, measuring approximately 350 x 272 cm, estimated between £2,500 and £4,000.
Lot 453: An Oushak carpet from Western Turkey, circa 1880, approximately 413 x 367 cm, with an estimate of £7,000.
Lot 443: A Khamseh bag face from South West Persia, circa 1880, estimated at £600 to £800.
Lot 483: A large “Hadji Jalili” Tabriz carpet from North-West Persia, circa 1880, expected to bring £10,000 to £15,000, measuring approximately 625 x 437 cm.
Lot 476: A Tashkent Suzani from Uzbekistan, circa 1850, measuring 243 x 217 cm, estimated at £2,000 to £3,000.
