The Old Strathcona Antique Mall (OSAM) has a new owner, following an announcement on Tuesday that Mykel Lewsaw, the proprietor of Rocky Mountain Antique Mall, has acquired the iconic Edmonton establishment.

Lewsaw’s Rocky Mountain Antique Mall is located just a few blocks south of OSAM on Gateway Boulevard. In a joint statement shared via Instagram, Betty and Bobbi Weibel, the mother-and-daughter team who have owned OSAM for 16 years, expressed confidence in Lewsaw’s commitment to preserving the mall’s legacy.

“We have gotten to know Mykel much better over the past few weeks and know that he understands the unique space that OSAM holds in the hearts of Edmontonians,” the Weibels wrote. They also emphasized Lewsaw’s recognition of the distinct identities of both antique malls, noting that OSAM and Rocky Mountain Antique Mall serve different customer bases, a diversity Lewsaw intends to maintain moving forward.

Although OSAM was originally established in 1997, the Weibels have been at the helm for the past 16 years. The specific terms of the sale were not disclosed.
