The highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has partially opened its doors to the public ahead of its full launch scheduled for July 3, 2025.

Situated near the newly opened Sphinx International Airport, the GEM offers stunning views of the iconic Giza Pyramids. Once completed, the museum is set to become the world’s largest archaeological museum and the largest institution dedicated to a single civilization.

Spanning nearly 500,000 square meters and constructed at an estimated cost of over $1 billion, GEM will eventually house over 100,000 artifacts, many of which will be showcased for the first time.

During its soft opening, visitors can explore 12 of the museum’s galleries, including the Grand Hall, the Grand Staircase, and the commercial zone. The exhibitions provide a comprehensive journey through Egypt’s rich history, covering eras from prehistoric times through to the Roman period, with a focus on themes such as society, kingship, and belief systems.

The grand opening in July will include the unveiling of the complete Tutankhamun collection, featuring more than 5,000 priceless artifacts, as well as the debut of the Khufu solar boat, which has been carefully transported and preserved for display in its new home.
