The Manassas Habitat ReStore is set to host a one-night-only Antique & Arts Sale on Monday, May 12, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event, which promises an array of unique and valuable items, will offer antique enthusiasts and art lovers the opportunity to shop for rare pieces while supporting a meaningful cause.
This special event, featuring light refreshments, is a perfect outing for those passionate about antiques, vintage art, and statement pieces, as well as those looking to make a difference in their community. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Habitat for Humanity Prince William County’s Critical Home Repair Program, which provides essential home repairs for low-income homeowners.
“We regularly receive donations of beautiful antiques and original artwork,” said Steve Liga, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Prince William County. “These treasures often come from retirees downsizing or families looking to pass along heirlooms. However, they tend to get overlooked when placed among everyday merchandise in our store.”
To ensure these valuable items receive the attention they deserve, the ReStore is dedicating this event to showcasing them in a spotlight sale. Liga highlighted some of the rare and exceptional items available, including antique furniture, French porcelain, vintage lamps, and artwork. Notable items include a bronze nude appraised at over $5,000, a Charles X chandelier valued at $10,000, and a Civil War painting on slate by a renowned local artist.
Highlight Feature: Morton Kunstler’s Original Civil War Painting
Among the standout items is an original Civil War painting by Morton Kunstler, one of the most respected historical artists in the United States. The artwork, painted on a heavy slate slab measuring 24″ x 26″ x 1/2″, is valued at $10,033.18 and is in excellent condition, with only minor paint loss. Kunstler, known for his Civil War-themed works, has been praised for his meticulous historical research and his ability to capture the essence of the era. His work has been featured in prestigious publications like National Geographic and Newsweek, and his exhibitions have attracted tens of thousands of viewers.
Shopping with Purpose
Beyond the exceptional art and antiques, attendees will be contributing to a vital cause. The funds raised from this sale will help Habitat for Humanity support the Critical Home Repair Program, which assists low-income homeowners in Prince William County with necessary repairs such as roofing, structural updates, and accessibility modifications.
“These are people who own their homes but live on fixed incomes,” Liga explained. “They’ve fallen behind on repairs and are living in unsafe conditions. The money generated from the ReStore allows us to purchase the materials needed to restore these homes.”
A Hub for Community Engagement
The ReStore is more than just a place to shop—it’s evolving into a community hub. Future plans include crafting nights, upcycling workshops, and game nights, all designed to bring neighbors together and inspire creativity.
“We want the ReStore to be a space where people not only shop and donate but also connect, learn, and give back,” Liga added. The store is also seeking local businesses to partner with, offering services like fence repairs and landscaping, or sponsoring materials for future community projects.
Get Involved
If you are a business owner, artist, or collector with items to donate, Habitat for Humanity encourages you to get involved. Appraisals for high-value items can be provided for tax documentation purposes.
“Come with a credit card and a desire to help your neighbor,” Liga said. “You’ll find something you love—and you’ll leave knowing you’ve made a real difference.”
