17th-Century ‘Shepherd Boy’ Statue Stolen in Pickering Burglary

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information following the theft of a historic statue during a burglary in Pickering.

According to police, the incident occurred sometime between December 2024 and March 4, 2025, when it was first reported. The stolen artwork, known as the Shepherd Boy, was housed in an outbuilding and is believed to have been taken during that period.

The statue, created by renowned 17th-century sculptor John Nost, is considered a valuable historical artifact.
