The SAG-AFTRA Foundation has announced a special fundraiser to celebrate its 40th anniversary, offering actors a unique opportunity to have their industry memorabilia appraised in an “Antiques Roadshow”-style event. In collaboration with Heritage Auctions, the foundation will host “The Actors Auction” on May 3-4 at the union’s headquarters in mid-Wilshire, Los Angeles.
This two-day event, which is free to attend, will feature experienced appraisers from Heritage Auctions evaluating a wide range of items, including onscreen wardrobe and props, vintage posters, rare books, trading cards, autographs, fine and decorative arts, and more. After the appraisals, actors will have the option to auction off their items, with all proceeds benefiting the SAG-AFTRA Foundation.
Heritage Auctions’ Executive Vice President Joe Maddalena emphasized the potential for uncovering hidden treasures. “Hollywood is filled with forgotten treasures,” Maddalena said in a statement. “Much like ‘Antiques Roadshow’ brings to light hidden gems in attics and basements, this event will reveal the incredible value of film memorabilia and collectibles tucked away in closets and storage units.”
The auction is part of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s ongoing efforts to support union members, especially in times of need. “This event is about more than just discovering the value of your hidden treasures — it’s about supporting a safety net for performers,” said Courtney B. Vance, chairman of the foundation. “Whether we’re providing emergency financial assistance or offering career-building programs, the Foundation is dedicated to uplifting artists throughout their careers.”
Actors wishing to have their items appraised must pre-register for the event, which is free of charge.
